CADE: operates more than 20 branches in the Golden Triangle area of north central Mississippi, plus another almost 20 locations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee. RF: has 2,000 branches in 16 states, roughly stretching from the Mississippi River Valley in the US heartland to the Southeast and Texas. Regions Financial also owns Memphis-based investment bank and brokerage Morgan Keegan, which has some 325 offices on its parent's turf, plus New York and Massachusetts.

Umpqua Holdings Co.:thinks of itself not so much as a bank but as a retailer that sells financial products. Consequently, many of the company's more than 130 Umpqua Bank "stores" in Oregon, southwestern Washington, and northern California feature coffee bars and computer cafes. While customers sip Umpqua Bank-brand coffee, read the morning paper, pay bills online, or check out local bands at the bank's online music store, bank staff pitches checking and savings accounts, mortgages, business and consumer loans, investments, and more. California First National: Through subsidiaries Amplicon and California First Leasing (CalFirst Leasing), the firm leases mainly computers and software. It also leases retail point-of-sale systems, ATMs, telecommunications equipment, office furniture, and other equipment. CalFirst also operates California First National Bank (CalFirst Bank), a branchless retail bank that accepts deposits through the mail, by phone, or over the Internet.
