CFFN: a federally chartered mid-tier mutual holding company. Capitol Federal Financial, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company. Capitol Federal Savings Bank (the Bank) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company, which is majority-owned by Capitol Federal Savings Bank MHC (MHC), a mutual holding company and majority-owner of Capitol Federal Financial. The Bank is a federally-chartered and insured savings bank. As of September 30, 2010, it had total assets of $8.49 billion, loans of $5.17 billion, deposits of $4.39 billion and total equity of $962 million. It offers a range of financial services. It attracts retail deposits from the general public and invests those funds in permanent loans secured by first mortgages on owner-occupied, one- to four-family residences. It also originates consumer loans, loans secured by first mortgages on non-owner-occupied one- to four-family residences, multi-family and commercial real estate loans and construction loans. AMFC: The Bank attracts deposits from the general public, and uses such deposits to originate and purchase one- to four-family residential mortgages, and to a lesser extent, non-residential real estate, multi-family real estate, consumer, commercial business, land and construction loans. It also invests in mortgage-backed securities, investment securities consisting primarily of the United States Government obligations and various types of short-term liquid assets. The Bank serves the financial needs of families and local businesses in its primary market area, northwest Lake County, Indiana, through its main office located in Munster, Indiana, and two branch offices located in the communities of Dyer and Hammond, Indiana. SZBI: a thrift holding company primarily engaged in directing, planning and coordinating the business activities of its wholly owned bank subsidiary, First Federal of the South (the Bank), along with First Federal's two wholly owned operating subsidiaries, Pension & Benefit Financial Services, Inc. and SouthFirst Mortgage, Inc. As of September 30, 2005, SouthFirst Bank conducted business from three full-service locations in Alabama. These locations included its main office in Sylacauga and branches in Talladega and Clanton. In addition, SouthFirst Mortgage, the wholly owned subsidiary of SouthFirst Bank, operates loan production offices in the Alabama cities of Hoover and Chelsea, suburbs of metropolitan Birmingham, primarily to enhance SouthFirst Bank's construction-lending activities in the growing residential markets of metropolitan Birmingham.
